Engage the new life
If you asked Jesus to come into your life, our Creator performed a supernatural change inside you. He created a "new you", a brand new spirit within . This is formed complete from the outset, but we need to learn how to engage it. The new you has passed from death to life, and is now secure in God's plan for eternity. He loves you and wants you to grow into all He has for you. Here are our suggested first three steps for you. 1,2,3....
1. Pray
God desires relationship with us. Explore this by starting to talk to Him. You don't need to learn religious language or prayers, just talk to Him like you would to a good friend. Ask Him to begin guiding your life and showing you things about Himself. Talk to Him about whatever is going on in your life.
2. JOIN
When God created the "new you", you literally became His child, born of His Spirit. You joined His family and He takes His place as your Creator-Father! This family is vast, global, and eternal. You have a lot of brothers and sisters! One of God's main plans is that we interact together in His family. Where this is done well, it is a brilliant environment to grow in the new life. Visiting a church might help, although there are many types and some will probably be more helpful than others. As a first step, try connecting with the person that encouraged you to receive Jesus, and ask if they know of a church or group you can visit. Or reach out to us on our contact page.
TIP: Ask about getting baptized in water as soon as possible. This is taught in the bible, and can make a dramatic impact on your spiritual journey. Jesus said, "He who has believed and has been baptized shall be saved" (made whole)

3. LEARN
The spiritual life is a whole new realm. The Christian bible contains lots of information and instruction that has lasted through the test of time. But at the beginning it can be overwhelming. If you don't have a bible, you can read it online (e.g. Bible Gateway). But to help you get started, consider following introductory teaching. We have a website focused on building small groups called "New Creation INNs". The site includes a series of FREE daily studies that we call "The Goal is Whole". One key to take on board is a principle Jesus outlined for growth in His parables of the "sower" and the "two builders". Those who grow strong and fruitful in the new life:
1. Hear the Word (what the bible says about His new life)
2. Understand it
3. Act on it.
The new life needs to be engaged. As you learn to do that, you can expect rapid growth as you tap into the abundant life God has released within you.
